The fear I sensed in Yan, of Fauxdelaire’s story on Day 29 brought to mind this image of the aurora borealis, photographed my first night in Iceland. In relation to the daunting antagonist in her story, this aurora’s shape looks to me like the head and arms of a large man reaching out from behind the mountains. In dreams, water represents deep feelings. The bay reflects this fearsome glow. If left unattended, one’s fears can extend as far as allowed.
